Spend a day amidst thousands of tourists and visit Cody;
but escape the people at the end of the day and come back to the
quiet Greybull KOA (total trip length 100 miles).
Themes surrounding Cody's pioneer, cowboy and western history are
common
in the cultural events and activities in Greybull.
Visit the Buffalo
Bill Historical Center, a large and modern facility which houses
four different museums
and contains large collections. It is a favorite stopping point for
tourists visiting this town.
During the summer, a re-enactment of a wild west shoot-out takes
place next to the Irma Hotel,
a historical site still open for business with a hotel and
restaurant.
Rodeo is also a big
part of the culture in Cody. Cody touts itself as the "Rodeo Capitol
of the World".
The Cody Nite Rodeo is an amateur rodeo which is held every night
from June 1st through August 31st.
Cody is also host to
the Cody Stampede Rodeo. The Stampede, held over the Independence
Day holiday,
is a PRCA rodeo and is one of the largest rodeos in the nation. Many
of the top cowboys in the country attend.
The Stampede has been held from July 1st-4th every year since 1919.
One of the biggest
weekends of the year celebrates the old west and cowboy culture with
the
annual Cody Old West Show & Auction. It happens every fourth weekend
in June
and attracts visitors from all around the world with an interest in
Cowboy and Native American artifacts and antiques.
AFTER SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DAY IT'S NICE TO BE BACK AT THE GREYBULL KOA TO
RELAX AT OUR REFRESHING POOL.
